Homeopathy

Homeopathy is evidence-based medicine that uses the principle of similarity.

The homeopathic principles are based on an energetic view of body and mind. The system of homeopathy thus offers a different way of looking at the topics of illness and health.

Its approach is holistic – both the body and the psyche and the environment of a person are considered in the treatment.

Its approach is individualised or even personalised – the person behind the disease is important, not just the symptoms of the disease.

Similarity

Homeopathy is based on its own principles, of which the most important and well-known is the principle of similarity, discovered by the German physician Samuel Hahnemann 250 years ago:

Simila similibus curentur: like cures like

This principle is known to anyone who ever cuts onions: the eyes are watering and burning, the nose is running. Such symptoms are typical for hay fever. The onion, processed homeopathically, thus becomes a possible remedy for allergic rhinitis.

Individuality

Every human being is an individual. Therefore, the symptoms of disease are always individual – each person suffers "in her own way". That's why in a homeopathic consultation many questions are asked, carefully analysed and observed.

Homeopathy treats the sick person, not the disease.

To illustrate: When Maria gets a cold, it always starts with aching ears. Peter on the other hand, never suffers from earache, his cold always begins with a scratchy throat.
Martin’s headache is relieved with a cold pad. That does not work for Esther, she has to lay down quietly in the dark for the pain to subside.

Remedies

Homeopathic medicines are 100% natural.

They originate from the plant, mineral or animal kingdom and are tested only on healthy people. Their production is based on the Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia (HAB) and follows certain rules of dilution and potentization.

Potentisation ?

In a book I found a very nice description on the topic of energy from the perspective of physics. In my opinion, it exemplifies the homoeopathic potentiation of a source substance (that is, of matter), which unfortunately is still highly controversial:

Energy is what is being released when matter is being subject to change or to transformation. Therefore energy becomes the antithesis to matter; energy enables the functioning of matter. If matter gets heated, it changes its essence and releases heat and light. Matter that changes or that gets destroyed, therefore releases energy. From the point of view of energy, energy has not been destroyed but instead has been releaseed.

... and therefore it has been made available as a remedy ! It is precisely this process of potentiation (or transformation) that allows to make use of the energy of substances that are originally very toxic, such as Aconitum, snake venoms or mercury for the sake of therapy.

10 good reasons for homeopathy

Homeopathy:

1 – is an independent and evidence-based system of medicine for acute, chronic and mental diseases.

2 – is based on a holistic & individual approach. The body, the psyche and the environment of a person
are considered in a treatment. The sick individual is perceived, not her/his disease.

3 – is a gentle method, also known as regulatory therapy. By stimulating the energy of the whole organism,
the immune system is strengthened.

4 – is a non-invasive method. This is especially important when treating children, elderly or traumatized people.

5 – is based on conversation. No major infrastructure is necessary for treatment.

6 – offers space and time: individuals are being honestly heard & taken seriously.

7 – offers assistance in processing. With homeopathy it is possible to address deep levels of the human psyche.
Crucial for the choice of a suitable remedy is often the mental state.

8 – provides a way to reduce the intake of medication over time.

9 – saves resources. For the manufacturing of homeopathic remedies, only a small amount of starting
material is required.

10 – is not tested on animals. Homeopathic remedies are always tested by healthy people.
